Pychometry (from Greek: ψυχή, psukhē, "spirit, soul" and μέτρον, metron, "measure"), also known as token-object reading, or psychoscopy, is a form of extrasensory perception characterised by the ability to make relevant associations from an object of unknown history by making physical contact, or focusing on that object.
Psychometry is based on reading the energy of an object, it allows the reader to gain information from the object based on who owned the item. Often the energy of an item can link a reader into a spirit (this must be evidenced of course). Psychometry is unique because it’s usually focused on the past and present, not the future.
An American physician and physiologist named Joseph Rhodes Buchanan created the term and concept of psychometry. He believed that in the same way that geologists study physical fossils to learn about the past, psychologists could use “mental fossils”. The energy emanated by these objects are used to explore the history and science of the human mind.
How Psychometry Works
The word “psychometry” literally means “measuring soul” (psych means soul or mind and metry is the act of measuring something).
People who have mastered psychometry use their extrasensory gifts to read energy from items that belonged to loved ones. Most psychometrists can also be empaths.
Most readers find that metal objects are the easiest to read, but with the right experience, it’s possible to read almost any object and often the information from photographs of people can be very fruitful. This is generally how online psychometry readings work.
How to Practice Psychometry:
Follow the steps below and see how you go:
Relax and breath and be calm, this allows you to focus more clearly and link into the energy of the object.
Hold or touch the object or focus on the object if its remote to you. Close your eyes and pick up the object you want to read. Alternatively, have someone else place it in your hand.
Explore what you are sensing or feeling. Allow yourself to interact with the energy of the object. You may sense thoughts and feelings, or even see images from spirit.
Say everything you think.
Be patient, and try this with different objects. As with anything, the more you practise, the more accurate you will become.
We shall be teaching this technique in our next online workshops on 9th Jan 7pm and 14th Jan 12noon Brisbane time:
